Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, has unveiled its Maxis Scholarship Programme 2024 to empower students through comprehensive financial support for their higher education journeys. This year’s programme focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students, combining financial aid with valuable industry exposure to enable students to achieve their aspirations.

Open to first-year Malaysian undergraduate students studying in either Malaysia or Singapore, the financial assistance covers tuition fees and living expenses. Beyond financial aid, scholars will be offered internship opportunities and guaranteed job placements with Maxis upon graduation.

Eligible degrees for the programme include Engineering (Network, Telecommunications, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic); Technology (Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, IT); Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science; and Accounting, Finance or Economics.

The emphasis on STEM education reflects Maxis’ commitment to advancing the nation’s digital agenda. As part of this commitment, the company aims to nurture digitally equipped and future-ready talent. In addition to academic requirements, applicants will also be assessed holistically based on their extracurricular activities, leadership skills, and communication skills.

Patrick Er, Chief People & Transformation Officer of Maxis, said, “We believe in empowering high-potential young Malaysians as they are the nation’s future leaders. By providing them with the right tools and opportunities, we can develop well-rounded talent who are able to succeed in tomorrow’s digital economy. Through this programme and our ongoing initiatives, we will continue to support education in Malaysia in line with our purpose of connecting people and businesses to a world of possibilities.”

To date, Maxis has assisted over 330 students through its scholarship programmes.

Applications are open now until 31 October 2024. Applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged between 18 to 23 years old, have obtained admission into a recognised higher education institution in Malaysia or Singapore, and be currently enrolled in or undertaking their first year of undergraduate studies.
