Alibaba Cloud, the technology arm of Alibaba Group, has played a pivotal role in enhancing the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through advanced cloud-based initiatives. These technologies have improved media coverage and elevated global fan engagement.

Key innovations include the Media Archiving AI Solution, developed in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This solution uses AI to provide enhanced visual search, automatic categorisation of multimedia content, and video highlight production, enriching the storytelling experience for media professionals and audiences alike.

At the Alibaba Wonder Avenue, the debut of Smart Virtual Boxing showcased real-time analysis and commentary powered by Alibaba’s large language model, Qwen, further enhancing the spectator experience.

Another notable initiative is the Multi-Camera Replay System by OBS Cloud, which provided 360-degree slow-motion replays for several sports, facilitating deeper analysis and more engaging viewing experiences.

In addition, Alibaba Cloud introduced Cloud Memento, a tool that transforms static images of spectators into dynamic motion videos, available at key Paris 2024 venues. This innovative technology allowed fans to take home personalised Olympic memories.

Alibaba Cloud also contributed to sustainability efforts at the Games by deploying its Energy Expert solution, which helped optimise power consumption at competition venues, supporting the IOC’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the Games.
