Streaming giant Netflix updated its regional pricing structure in Malaysia, quietly raising monthly subscription fees across every consumer tier. This latest price adjustment marks the second major fee increase for local subscribers since November 2024, following an initial wave of price revisions introduced across North America earlier this year.

The new rates take effect immediately for new sign ups, while existing standalone members will see the higher figures reflected on their next monthly billing cycle. Under the revised local structure, the entry level Mobile tier edges up to RM19.90, representing a RM1 increase over the prior RM18.90 rate. Standard definition Basic subscribers face a steeper bump, moving to RM33.90 per month, up from RM29.90.

Subscribers demanding multi device access and high resolution playback bear the largest increases. The 1080p Standard plan now sits at RM55.90 monthly, a RM6 increase over previous rates, while the 4K capable Netflix Premium tier jumps RM7 to RM69.90 per month. Accounts utilising extra member slots outside the primary household must also absorb higher costs, with each slot rising from RM13 to RM14.90 monthly. Maxing out two extra member slots on a Premium account brings the monthly bill to RM99.70, effectively touching the three digit boundary.

Here is a breakdown of what each revised Netflix tier offers:

  • Mobile (RM19.90 / month, up RM1): Capped at 480p SD resolution on 1 phone or tablet screen.
  • Basic (RM33.90 / month, up RM4): 720p HD streaming on 1 screen, supporting TVs and computers.
  • Standard (RM55.90 / month, up RM6): 1080p Full HD playback across 2 simultaneous screens, with the option to add 1 extra member outside your household for RM14.90 per month.
  • Premium (RM69.90 / month, up RM7): 4K Ultra HD and Spatial Audio on 4 simultaneous screens, allowing up to 2 extra member slots outside your household for RM14.90 each per month.

For local consumers who access Netflix through bundled pay TV or telecommunication contracts, these price hikes will inevitably filter down into updated bundle rates once existing provider agreements expire.
