Malaysia is preparing to introduce a framework for responsible use of artificial intelligence in media, public relations, and digital content creation. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that the upcoming Guidelines for Responsible AI Communication will support professionals in navigating ethical and transparent practices when using AI tools.

The guidelines will align with the country’s broader National AI Roadmap, offering structured guidance at a time when content across platforms is increasingly shaped by generative AI. While these technologies offer efficiency, the government is underscoring the importance of preserving human judgment in communication.

Speaking via video at the Kuala Lumpur International PR Conference (KLIP 7), Fahmi, who is currently in Geneva attending the World Summit on the Information Society+20, emphasised that technology must remain a tool for humanity—not a substitute for ethical decision-making.

He urged industry professionals to lead with intention, guided by principles of inclusion, accuracy, and transparency. The move aims to ensure that AI integration in content creation does not come at the expense of public trust.
