With WWDC 2025 around the corner, Apple is expected to unveil iOS 26—and with it, another round of software support cuts for older iPhones. If you’re still hanging on to a model from 2018, this could be the year Apple leaves you in the digital dust.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple is expected to maintain support for a wide range of newer devices—from the entire iPhone 16 lineup to the iPhone SE (2nd gen onwards). That includes all iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 models, across regular, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max variants.
However, three familiar faces are likely on the chopping block: the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. All were launched in 2018 and are now nearing their seventh birthday—well past Apple’s typical five-year support cycle.
So while the latest iOS might bring fancy new features for the current crop of devices, those still using older models may soon find themselves permanently frozen in time.
