Samsung has officially unveiled its Galaxy S25 series, comprising the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra models, during the Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 January 2025. Pre-orders commenced immediately, with general availability slated for 7 February 2025.
Design and Display
The Galaxy S25 and S25+ maintain designs consistent with their predecessors, featuring aluminium frames and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The S25 sports a 6.2-inch display, while the S25+ offers a 6.7-inch screen. Both models support a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth visuals.
Performance and Hardware
Under the hood, the S25 series is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, delivering enhanced performance and efficiency. All models come equipped with 12GB of RAM, standardising memory across the series. Storage options vary, with configurations up to 1TB available.
Camera Capabilities
The camera setups have seen notable improvements. The S25 and S25+ feature a 50MP wide sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide sensor. The S25 Ultra boasts a 200MP wide sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. These configurations aim to provide versatile and high-quality photography experiences.
Artificial Intelligence Integration
A standout feature of the S25 series is the integration of advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. Samsung has collaborated with Google to incorporate the Gemini AI assistant, offering functionalities such as generative photo editing, audio noise reduction in videos, and AI-driven suggestions for user actions. These enhancements are designed to provide a more intuitive and personalised user experience.
Battery and Charging
Battery capacities remain consistent with previous models, with the S25 housing a 4,000 mAh battery, the S25+ a 4,900 mAh battery, and the S25 Ultra a 5,000 mAh battery. Charging speeds are also maintained, supporting up to 25W for the S25 and 45W for the S25+ and Ultra models. Additionally, the series supports 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging capabilities.
Software and Updates
The Galaxy S25 series launches with Android 15, overlaid with Samsung’s One UI 7. Samsung has committed to providing seven years of operating system and security updates for these devices, ensuring longevity and continued support for users.
Pricing and Availability
In Malaysia, the Galaxy S25 is priced at RM3,999 for the 256GB model and RM4,599 for the 512GB variant. The Galaxy S25+ is available at RM4,999 for 256GB and RM5,599 for 512GB. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is offered at RM5,999 for 256GB, RM6,599 for 512GB, and RM7,799 for the 1TB model.
Pre-orders are open from 23 January to 13 February 2025, with promotions including a double storage upgrade worth up to RM600 on selected models. Additionally, customers paying with a CIMB bank card can enjoy up to RM400 off. Those who registered their interest earlier can redeem pre-registration e-vouchers worth up to RM600 at checkout.
The Galaxy S25 and S25+ are available in Navy, Icyblue, Mint, and Silver Shadow, with online exclusive colours Blueblack, Coralred, and Pinkgold. The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Gray, Titanium Whitesilver, and Titanium Black, with online exclusives Titanium Jadegreen, Titanium Pinkgold, and Titanium Jetblack.
