What’s the difference between WiFi 6/6E and WiFi 7?

WiFi 7 represents a significant leap forward from WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E, offering much faster speeds, lower latency, and substantial capacity increases.

This new wireless standard marks a major evolution in WiFi technology, providing enhanced performance and better support for a growing number of connected devices.

Faster Speeds: WiFi 7 promises speeds 2.4 times faster than WiFi 6, reaching up to 5Gbps on typical mobile devices. It supports future 10 Gigabit internet speeds.

Greater Channel Width: WiFi 7 doubles the channel bandwidth from 160MHz to 320MHz, effectively doubling the speed and increasing the capacity to support more devices.

More Data Density: The new 4K QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) standard in WiFi 7 increases the data encoding capacity, and boosting transmission rates by 20%.

Flexible Channel Utilisation: WiFi 7 introduces “puncturing,” which allows parts of a channel affected by interference to be blocked while the rest remains usable, improving resistance to interference and maintaining data flow.

Multi-Link Operation (MLO): WiFi 7 allows devices to connect across multiple WiFi bands (2.4, 5, and 6GHz) simultaneously, enhancing performance and providing seamless band-switching without connection drops.
