Last month, Proton announced that they are going to launch their first electric vehicle (EV), the “Proton e.MAS” by December 2024.
We weren’t expecting the national carmaker to reveal the car anytime soon, but to our surprise, they are.
Proton has just released a teaser of e.MAS, and it’s going to be revealed on Friday, 2 August 2024, according to Paultan.

The report says the EV will be based on Geely Galaxy E5 SUV, and it will be known as “eMAS7” or “eMAS E7”.

The teaser shows striking similarity to Galaxy E5, and we guess it’s just a logo change, and everything else remains mostly identical.
The Galaxy E5 is going to launch in China on 3 August, and it’s equipped with a single electric motor that generates 160 kW and 320 Nm of torque.
The SUV will use Geely in-house developed battery, the Aegis Short Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with two options – 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh – providing an estimated range of 440 km and 530 km, respectively.
Regarding pricing, the Galaxy E5 is tagged between CNY123,000 (~RM78,379) and CNY157,000 (~RM100,045).
The Malaysian variant will most likely be pricier, as has been the case with Proton’s previous models.
