In Malaysia, there are no shortages of smartphone brands, and there are plenty of choices to choose from.
But there’s one brand that has been unavailable here officially since its launch in 2016.
Google has never officially released any Pixel smartphones or devices in Malaysia. The only way to get one has been by purchasing it in Singapore, where it is officially available, or through an importer.
If you long for the day where you can buy a Pixel phone without much of a hassle, it seems that day is finally coming soon.
A local tech site, SoyaCincau, has spotted that Urban Republic (UR), a gadget retailer, has included Google in the smartphone section of its online store.
However, when we checked UR online store today, we found out that they have removed Google from their smartphone listing.
When they asked UR’s customer service, UR replied that they will be bringing in Pixel smartphones to Malaysia, but they didn’t say when.
UR also didn’t say if other Pixel devices such as Pixel Buds or Pixel Watch are coming here as well.
Google is planning to release the Pixel 9 series soon, will these smartphones make it to the Malaysia market or are we getting the older Pixel 8 series instead?
For now, we can only wait for the official news from UR.
