As of 10 July 2024 (Wednesday), a total of 465,924 users have registered for MyDigital ID, including civil servants, according to Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

MIMOS, operating under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) as the executing body for the MyDigital ID Development Project, has partnered with government agencies like National Registration Department (NRD) and National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), all under the oversight of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

The implementation of MyDigital ID serves several critical purposes:

  1. Streamlining Transactions: MyDigital ID simplifies online interactions with government apps, making them more efficient and user-friendly.
  2. Security and Confidentiality: While enhancing convenience, MyDigital ID prioritises the security and confidentiality of individual personal data. Stringent measures are in place to protect users’ information.
  3. Voluntary Integration: Currently, MyDigital ID is not mandatory for Malaysians. Instead, it serves as an option that will be integrated with various government and private applications.

Gobind highlighted the ongoing integration efforts:

  1. Government Apps: The MyDigital ID team has successfully integrated several government applications, including the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), MySejahtera, and MyJPJ.
  2. Central Database Hub (PADU): Integration with PADU is currently underway and is expected to be completed by August this year.
  3. Collaboration with Financial Institutions: Discussions are underway to integrate MyDigital ID with Touch ‘n Go, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) i-Akaun, the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), and the banking sector. The goal is to expand its use in the financial domain.

Gobind expressed confidence that integrating MyDigital ID with major apps will significantly increase its user base.
