Panasonic Malaysia today announced the LUMIX S9, the company’s smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera in the LUMIX S Series.
The Panasonic LUMIX S9 is an L-mount camera with a 24.2MP full-frame image sensor that records internally at up to 6K30P.
The LUMIX S9 is a compact, lightweight mirrorless camera, measuring only 12.6 x 7.39 x 4.67 cm and weighing 403g without the battery and lens.
The camera comes with a micro-HDMI port and a USB-C port. Other than that, there’s a 3.5mm microphone input but no 3.5mm headphone jack.
The LUMIX S9 captures footage on SD UHS-II memory cards, with the single SD card slot located in the battery compartment at the bottom of the camera. The LUMIX S9 also features a 3-inch tilting touchscreen LCD, built-in Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0.
Panasonic introduced a new companion app called “LumixLab,” allowing you to import, edit, and publish photos/videos directly on your smartphone. The app also includes a library of LUTs that can be uploaded to the camera wirelessly.
A dedicated LUT button at the back of the camera instantly applies a LUT to your pictures/videos.
The S9 can store up to 39 LUTs internally, and you can adjust the LUT strength from 10 to 100%. You can add custom LUTs via the companion app or load your own LUTs via the SD card.
Pricing and Availability
Distributed by Shriyo Marketing, the LUMIX S9 is available for pre-order at RM7,599 for the camera body alone, and RM8,999 for the camera body and an R2060 Lens.
Models pre-ordered via retail from 30 May to 30 June 2024 will be available in the colours Jet Black and Dark Olive, while those pre-ordered from Lazada or Shopee from 6 to 30 June 2024 will be available in Jet Black and Crimson Red.
All pre-orders of the LUMIX S9 will come with a free gift of a SmallRig L-Shape Handle, a battery pack, and a 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SD Card.
Alongside the LUMIX S9, Panasonic has introduced the LUMIX S 26mm F8 (S-R26) at RM1,099, a compact and lightweight full frame lens.
The company will also be releasing the new LUMIX S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 zoom lens soon.
