Acer Unveils Next-Gen Gaming Laptops For Both Predator Helios Neo And Nitro Series

Last week, Acer announced the new Predator Helios Neo 14, Nitro 14, and Nitro 16 gaming laptops. The Neo 14 is powered by Intel’s latest 14th Gen Meteor Lake mobile processor, and the Nitro 14 and 16 are rocking AMD’s Hawk Point Ryzen 8040 Series mobile processors.

The Helios Neo 14 supports configurations with up to a Core Ultra 9 185H processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GPU, 1TB PCIe 4.0 storage, and 32GB LPDDR5X RAM.

Its 14.5-inch IPS panel offers three maximum resolutions: WUXGA (1920 x 1200) at 120Hz, WQXGA (2560 x 1600) at 120Hz, and WQXGA (3072 x 1920) at 165Hz.

It also comes with Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E connection, a full-function USB Type-C with ThunderBolt 4 port, and a microSD card reader.

Nitro 14 and 16

The Nitro 14 houses configurations featuring up to a Ryzen 7 8845HS processor, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM, and an RTX 4060 8GB discrete GPU. A 76WHr battery powers the system, keeping its weight just over 2kg.

The laptop boasts a 14.5-inch 16:10 screen, offering users a choice between FHD+ (1920 x 1200) or QHD+ (2560 x 1600) resolutions, both with a 120Hz refresh rate.

It comes with full-function USB 4 and USB 3.2 Type C ports, dual Type A ports (one with offline charging), HDMI 2.1, and a microSD card reader.

In contrast, the Nitro 16 can be equipped with up to a Ryzen 9 8945HS processor, an RTX 4060 8GB GPU, up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 storage, and up to 32GB DDR5 RAM. It shares the same 76WHr battery as its smaller counterpart but weighs slightly more at 2.43kg.

Featuring a 16-inch IPS+ 16:10 display with a swift 165Hz refresh rate, the Nitro 16 offers a variety of panel options. Users can select between a standard FHD+ (1920 x 1200) panel or an FHD+ panel with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus Capability. The highest-tier SKU offers a maximum QHD+ (2560 x 1600) resolution and also supports Advanced Optimus technology.

It also comes with Wi-Fi 6E, dual USB Type C, three USB Type A ports, HDMI 2.1, and a microSD card slot.

Pricing and Availability

The Predator Helios Neo 14 starting retail price is USD1,799.99 (~RM8,599), while the Nitro 14 starts at USD1,299.99 (~RM6,210) and the Nitro 16 has a starting price of USD1,399.99 (~RM6,688).

These gaming laptops are set to be available in the US from May 2024 onwards. As at time of writing, Acer has not provided specific details regarding local pricing or availability for these models here.
