Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching emphasised the government’s commitment to reducing telecommunication signal pollution at the nation’s international borders to enhance the quality of service for consumers.

She stressed the necessity of bilateral discussions between Malaysia and Singapore to find mutually beneficial solutions, highlighting that this issue is not new, according to Bernama.

Teo noted that, should Malaysian telecommunication companies raise their frequencies, it might cause disruptions for Singaporean consumers. This would necessitate adjustments by Singaporean firms, potentially leading to a cycle of disruptions.

She reiterated the government’s objective to minimise these disruptions, acknowledging the complexity of resolving the issue directly due to the borderless nature of telecommunication signals. Continuous dialogue, she emphasised, is essential for addressing this matter effectively.
