A new report suggests that Apple, along with display manufacturers like Samsung, is working on a system to significantly reduce the bezel around the iPhone screen.
The technology, called Border Reduction Structure (BRS), is expected to result in the thinnest bezels yet across the entire iPhone 16 range, according to Apple Insider.
While specific measurements haven’t been disclosed, BRS is said to be an “ultra-thin” technology. Notably, Samsung Display, LG Display, and BOE, Apple’s screen suppliers, are also reportedly adopting BRS.
However, there are indications that the reduction might not be significant for the bottom bezel due to heating concerns, although improvements in heat dissipation technologies could lead to some reduction.
Previous reports have suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a larger screen compared to the iPhone 15 Pro, while the non-Pro iPhone 16 models are expected to remain similar to their predecessors.
