Celcomdigi, U Mobile & ZTE Collaborate To Accelerate 5G Advanced Technology Via Field Trial & Live Use Case Applications

CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi), U Mobile Sdn Bhd (U Mobile) and ZTE Corporation (ZTE), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to demonstrate the capabilities of 5G Advanced (5G-A) technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital solutions for real-time live broadcasting. 

The collaboration will cover 5G field trials of live use case applications in Sarawak using 5G-A technology to deliver enhanced customer experience with seamless connectivity via 5G carrier aggregation solutions such as Automatic Antenna Pattern Control (AAPC) and AAU Hibernation.

Other 5G technologies include mmWave, Dynamic Frame Scheduling (DIS Solution) and Fusion Assisting Super TDD (FAST Solution) for faster 5G speeds, and a Native-AI Intelligent RAN for improved network and streaming management. 

The MOU was signed by Datuk Idham Nawawi, CEO of CelcomDigi, Wong Heang Tuck, CEO of U Mobile and Steven Ge, Managing Director of ZTE Malaysia, at the Malaysian Pavilion during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. The signing was witnessed by Fahmi Fadzil, Malaysian Minister of Communications.

Commenting on the strategic partnership, Datuk Idham Nawawi said, “Our strategic partnership with U Mobile and ZTE enables us to develop and deploy the latest 5G technologies, and test new use cases across mass consumers and enterprises for enhanced digital experiences. As we aspire to build the nation’s digital ecosystem, this partnership will also unlock more value for 5G connectivity and solutions, potentially delivering significant benefits for the country.”
