A cybersecurity company has issued a warning to Malaysia, revealing that a notorious hacking group has targeted the country.

According to iZOOlogic, the R00TK1T group, known for sophisticated cyber intrusions targeting governmental organisations and private sectors globally, has issued a severe threat asserting that “No system is safe, no data secure.”

While the specifics of their threats are undisclosed, the cybersecurity company emphasise the need for urgent attention and enhanced defensive measures. The group, with a history of breaching high-security systems, plans to relentlessly attack Malaysia’s government, institutions, and “way of life”.

Their methods include exploiting software vulnerabilities, deploying malware, and executing sophisticated phishing attacks. The government is advised to implement stringent security protocols, conduct system audits, and enhance employee awareness.

Malaysian entities are urged to perform cybersecurity drills, invest in advanced technologies, and collaborate internationally to combat the evolving cyber threats posed by R00TK1T.

iZOOlogic said the warning is deemed credible, considering the group’s proven capability to carry out their threats.
