The Global Game Jam 2024 will be hosted by Xsolla Curine Academy, bringing together game developers with diverse backgrounds for a 48-hour game creation marathon from 26 to 28 January in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has spearheaded this initiative, transforming Xsolla’s office in Bangsar South into a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation, according to Bernama.
As a collaborative educational effort, Xsolla and Curine have founded the Xsolla Curine Academy, committed to bridging academic learning and meeting the dynamic needs of the game development sector.
The academy, through its practical training programs, is dedicated to nurturing professionals prepared for the future, empowering independent game developers, and fostering the growth of local intellectual property in the Malaysian gaming industry.
The Global Game Jam, spanning over 100 countries, is positioned to be the most significant global game creation event, attracting thousands of participants known as “jammers” for an energetic 48-hour competition.
This event will welcome participants with diverse skill sets and backgrounds—programmers, artists, designers, musicians, writers—gathering at both physical and virtual venues to cultivate a culture of learning, teamwork, and innovative exploration.
More than just a game creation event, it is a celebration of creative expression, providing a platform for experimentation and idea sharing. The outcomes range from games achieving commercial acclaim to invaluable skills development, portfolio enhancement, and networking opportunities within the global gaming community.
Xsolla is proud to collaborate with the Global Game Jam, offering its office space as the venue and serving as the Food & Beverage sponsor. Additionally, technical partner Megamod will establish a dedicated area for live streaming on YouTube, providing insight into the game development process and capturing the essence of creativity in action.
