Previously, we announced that X (formerly Twitter) has started testing a program requiring all new users in New Zealand and the Philippines to pay USD1 (~RM4.76) per year for posting and replying to tweets.
Now, the social media platform is introducing two new subscription tiers to its X Premium offering.
The company is introducing a new “Premium+” tier at RM70 per month or RM738 per year, which eliminates ads from users’ “Following” and “For You” timelines, in addition to providing the blue checkmark and existing perks for subscribers.
X mentioned in a tweet that Premium+ subscribers will not only have ads removed from their timeline but will also receive a more significant algorithmic boost in replies compared to subscribers at the lower premium level.
The more affordable “Basic” tier at RM13.13 per month or RM140.57 per year, offers a more limited set of features compared to Premium and Premium+, notably lacking the blue checkmark and revenue-sharing.
In comparison, the Premium tier is priced at RM35 per month or RM369 per year.
Instead, it includes features such as tweet editing, longer posts, video downloads, a “small reply boost,” and encrypted direct messages. You will also lose your blue checkmark immediately if you downgrade to the Basic tier, according to X’s Help Center.
