Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the government, in line with Melaka’s focus on renewable energy technology, will allocate RM6.8 billion to introduce new courses related to electric vehicles (EV) and solar energy under Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET), particularly in Melaka.
Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the National TVET Council chairman, emphasised that this initiative presents a significant opportunity for Melaka, aligning with the growing demand for skilled personnel in the renewable energy sector and high-tech job opportunities, according to a news report by Bernama.
He highlighted that investors from various states may seek similar renewable energy expertise, further reinforcing the importance of enhancing TVET in Melaka.
Additionally, the RM6.8 billion allocation will support the expansion of TVET institutions nationwide and boost enrollment in new courses related to renewable energy.
Currently, the country boasts 1,334 TVET institutions administered by 12 ministries, all dedicated to providing skills training to the population.
