If you are looking forward to new iPads, this could be good news for you.
Apple plans to announce new updates for the iPad lineup this week, likely on Tuesday, 17 October, according to Supercharged and 9To5Mac.
Apple has scheduled briefings with select media personnel later this week, focusing specifically on the new iPads.
The last time Apple updated the iPad lineup was in October 2022, introducing the M2-powered iPad Pro and a completely redesigned entry-level 10th gen iPad.
This week’s new products are expected to be updates for the iPad mini, iPad Air, and the entry-level iPad.
Supercharged says its sources suggest that the announcements could occur as early as October 17. These updates will include minor specification improvements, aligning the models with faster and more efficient chips.
The iPad Air is set to receive an upgrade to the M2 chip, replacing the current M1 chip, while the upcoming iPad mini will feature the A16 Bionic chip. However, the two sites didn’t say what upgrade the entry-level iPad will be getting.
There has been a rumour this week that Apple aims to address the issue of “jelly scrolling” with the iPad mini, a phenomenon that causes displayed content to appear laggy and choppy.
These announcements will be made via press releases on Apple’s website and YouTube channel, and there won’t be a flashy hybrid event for major product announcements.
