DRB-HICOM has formalised a Master Collaboration Agreement (MCA) with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group to jointly develop the Automotive High-Technology Valley (AHTV) in Tanjong Malim, Perak.

This agreement outlines the foundational principles, governance structure, and shared commitment for the AHTV project, defining the respective roles in its development and promotion, according to Bernama.

Representing DRB-HICOM, the signing was carried out by Azri Zaharuddin, the Group Chief Operating Officer for Properties and Corporate Planning & Strategy, with Dr. Wei Mei, Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Geely, signing on behalf of the Chinese automaker.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Proton Tanjong Malim.

The AHTV is envisioned as an advanced international vehicle hub encompassing various automotive and mobility solutions throughout the value chain.

It will include a state-of-the-art global research & development centre, leading automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), a manufacturing cluster, and the necessary support services and associated ecosystem.

The project is expected to attract both domestic and foreign investments, positioning itself as an international hub for new energy vehicles (NEVs).

In addition to automobile production, the AHTV will focus on high-tech component and NEV part manufacturing, further enhancing the capabilities of local vendors in high-technology manufacturing.
