Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister, Tengku Zafrul Aziz, has expressed the country’s desire to collaborate with Boeing to advance sustainable manufacturing practices in the aerospace industry.
He emphasised the need for technology sharing and partnerships with Boeing to promote sustainable manufacturing in Malaysia, considering the global urgency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to FMT.
Zafrul hopes for additional incentives and budget allocations for the aerospace sector in Malaysia in the upcoming Budget 2024, with a request for increased funding already made.
This support would align with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and Malaysian Aerospace Blueprint 2030.
He commended Boeing and the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (Naico) for their collaboration, which signifies the strategic importance of Malaysia’s growing aerospace landscape.
The Malaysian aerospace industry aims to become a Southeast Asian aerospace hub and an integral part of the global aerospace supply chain by 2030, with plans to generate significant revenue and create high-income jobs.
This initiative aligns with Malaysia’s broader goals outlined in NIMP 2030, emphasizing economic complexity, rapid technology adoption, and the pursuit of net-zero emissions.
Boeing Southeast Asia President Alex Feldman praised the partnership with Naico, highlighting Malaysia’s leadership in aviation industry development and the government’s long-term vision, as exemplified by NIMP 2030.
Naico, under the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry, spearheads Malaysia’s aerospace industry development and the implementation of the aerospace blueprint.
