Other than Meta Quest 3, at the Meta Connect event, the giant social media company also introduced artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbots and features.
Stickers generated by AI
Meta announces that their AI tool, utilising technology from Llama 2 and their foundational model for image generation known as Emu, transforms your text prompts into numerous distinctive, high-quality stickers within seconds.

This feature is set to be introduced to specific English-language users in WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook Stories within the next month.
AI Photo Editing
Meta also introduces two new editing features, using Emu, that will be coming to Instagram soon.
Restyle allows you to reimagine your images by implementing the visual styles you specify. Imagine entering a descriptor like “watercolour” or providing a more elaborate prompt such as “create a collage using images from magazines and newspapers with torn edges” to define the fresh appearance and ambiance you desire for the image.

Backdrop, on the other hand, alters the setting or background of your image. Instructions like “place me against a breathtaking aurora borealis” or “surround me with playful puppies” prompt the tool to craft an image featuring the main subject in the foreground against the backdrop you’ve described.

The company emphasises that images produced using Restyle and Backdrop will clearly indicate the utilisation of AI, reducing the likelihood of them being mistaken for content generated by humans.
AI Chatbots
The company also unveiled Meta AI, a conversational assistant accessible on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, designed to provide real-time information and generate lifelike images based on user text inputs.

To bolster its information delivery capabilities, Meta has entered into a partnership with Microsoft’s Bing search engine, enabling users to access information from the internet seamlessly.
Additionally, Meta is introducing 28 more AI chatbots, each designed to embody the personalities of celebrities such as Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim, Josh Richards, and others.

In another move, Meta is introducing Meta AI Studio, a platform aimed at developers looking to create custom AI chatbots. These bots will have dedicated profiles on Instagram and Facebook, and users will have the opportunity to engage with them across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
The chatbots, as well as the AI Studio, are set to launch in beta in the United States starting Wednesday (27 September).
