Samsung Electronics just announced the release of an AI-powered food and recipe app that offers users access to more than 160,000 recipes.
This app, named Food, is an expansion of Samsung’s earlier acquisition of Whisk, a food database purchased in 2019.
The app is available in eight languages, will launch in 104 countries, allowing users to manage their cooking appliances, create personalised meal plans, and receive recipe suggestions, according to Samsung.

Starting in 2024, Food will also incorporate Vision AI technology, enabling it to analyse nutrition information by simply photographing a meal and recommending recipes based on available ingredients.
Vision AI leverages machine learning to interpret data from digital images and videos, providing tailored recommendations.
Whisk’s extensive database enables Food to suggest meals based on user preferences and seasonal ingredients.

The AI function within the Food app generates recommendations based on user dietary preferences and food preferences.
Samsung plans to introduce additional features in the coming months and intends to integrate it into the Samsung Health platform, enhancing nutritional logging and diet management for users.
