The government has decided to revamp the Price Catcher mobile app to attract a larger user base.
Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, the Acting Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), stated that the app has been downloaded by 293,499 users, which he considers to be a small number when compared to the overall population, according to a news report by Bernama.
Despite the app containing highly valuable information, its daily visitor count remains at a mere 2,000 users.
The app features an extensive catalogue of 480 items, enabling users to access detailed price comparison information for specific products within a 10km radius in West Malaysia and a 20km radius in Sabah and Sarawak.
Since its launch in 2019, the app has undergone two rounds of updates and Armizan expressed that the primary objective of this revamp is to enhance user-friendliness.
The focus will be on promoting and enhancing both the app’s information content and interactive features.
He said “Currently, the app is doing well, but its success depends on digital technology awareness in our society and user preferences for price comparison.
“For price comparison, we want to promote digital apps, which are more effective and provide instant info for users to decide,”.
The Price Catcher app is available to download on the Google Play Store, the App Store, and Huawei’s App Gallery. There’s also a web version that you can use HERE.
