According to What’s on Netflix, as of August 2023, there are 70 mobile games on the giant streaming platform and the list keeps growing each month.
Netflix gaming resembles Apple Arcade, offering unrestricted entry to a library of games through a membership fee—specifically, your Netflix subscription. All games are playable without charge, devoid of ads, and lack microtransactions.
Previously, you can only play those games on iOS and Android devices, but Netflix is bringing it to more devices starting now.
Netflix just announced that they are bringing a couple of games to select TVs, PCs and Macs via cloud. Two games will be part of this initial test: Oxenfree from Night School Studio, a Netflix Game Studio, and Molehew’s Mining Adventure, a gem-mining arcade game.
To play the games on TV, Netflix recently introduced the “Netflix Game Controller” app, which turns your phone into a controller. This app is only available for iOS users at the moment, with no mention of Android availability. PC and Mac users can play on Netflix.com with a keyboard and mouse.
Netflix has stated that this restricted beta phase is designed to evaluate their game streaming technology and controller, with the goal of enhancing the overall member experience in the future.
The Netflix games will be playable on select devices including: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, Nvidia Shield TV, Roku devices and TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, and Walmart ONN.
The company says it will add more devices on an ongoing basis. For now, only a small number of subscribers living in Canada and the UK get to try this with no mention of other countries.
