Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc and Space X, is anticipated to visit Malaysia to meet with Prime Minister (PM) Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the official inauguration of the Tesla Malaysia headquarters located in Cyberjaya, according to Astro Awani.
This significant event is scheduled to take place either at the end of September or in October.
Approximately two to three weeks following the virtual meeting, the Asia regional head of Tesla personally met with the PM and said that, “we have acquired a big building in Cyberjaya to serve as our headquarters, and we anticipate its completion by the close of September or October.”
Tesla requested that the PM come and inaugurate the opening of the office. The PM agrees to it, but on the condition that Musk must come as well, and they will do it together. But, it’s unknown whether Musk will come to Malaysia.
In a separate virtual meeting, Elon Musk himself expressed his full endorsement of establishing the Tesla headquarters within Cyberjaya. This decision underscores his commitment to fostering a strong presence in Malaysia.
The tech billionaire also firmly committed to positioning Malaysia as a pivotal hub for the production of electric vehicles (EVs) within the region, marking a significant stride toward sustainable mobility.
During the virtual meeting with Musk, the PM also highlighted that two other enterprises owned by Musk—namely the aerospace company SpaceX and Starlink, which delivers high-speed broadband internet and low-earth orbit satellite communication services under SpaceX’s operation—are actively exploring the prospect of designating Malaysia as their corporate hub.
According to the PM’s statement, Malaysia proactively extended early opportunities to SpaceX, setting it apart from other nations.
