Unauthorised drones are not allowed to be flown in places of mass gatherings during the upcoming state elections, the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM) reminded the public.
They a posted statement on Facebook reminding the public not to fly drones without approval in crowded areas during the 15th General Election (GE) involving the states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
The ban includes three important dates set by the Election Commission (SPR), namely Candidate Nomination Day on 29 July 2023 (Saturday), Early Voting Day on 8 August 2023 (Tuesday) and Voting Day on 12 August 2023 (Saturday) as well as throughout 14 days of campaigning period after Candidate Nomination Day.
CAAM would like to remind that any aviation activity including the operation of drone activities that may cause danger to the public or property is subject to Section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 (Act 3); Regulation 98, Regulation 140-144, Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations and Civil Aviation Directives (CADs).
