Ookla Lists M’sia As One Of The Countries With The Most Consistent Internet For Remote Work

Remote working has become a completely viable option due to the pandemic. Many people have started travelling and bringing their work along to other countries, but remote working requires consistent internet connectivity to prevent disruptions during critical moments and ensure uninterrupted access to online services. Moreover, reliable internet is essential for smooth video conferencing, preventing issues such as lags and dropped calls.

It’s important to know that the countries you are going to visit have consistent and fast internet, which is why Ookla has released their latest report about this.

According to Ookla’s report on remote working and internet speed around the world, Malaysia is one of the best tropical remote work countries with fast internet. We have an average download speed of 92.53 Mbps, average upload speed of 51.16 Mbps, and an average latency of 14 ms.

This speed placed us in the seventh spot, with Thailand taking the top spot with a median download speed of 196.20 Mbps, followed by Taiwan (127.85 Mbps) and Panama (108.84 Mbps).

When it comes to remote work countries with the most consistent internet, as of Q1 2023, Malaysia has a consistency of 85.5%, placing us at fifth spot.

Thailand once again took the top spot with a consistency of 89.8%, followed by Romania at 89.7%, and Taiwan at 89.5%.

Malaysia’s DE Rantau programme is trying to turn this country into a preferred digital nomad hub in ASEAN while boosting digital adoption and promoting digital professional mobility and tourism across the country. The programme welcomes both foreign and local digital nomads.
