After more than 13 years and six months since the launch of WhatsApp, the company finally released a feature that should have been a standard ages ago for a messaging app.

Yesterday, WhatsApp announced that you can edit your messages. You just need long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu.

But there’s a catch. You only have a window of 15 minutes to edit the sent messages. Once the 15-minute window has passed, you can no longer edit it.

Messages that have been edited on WhatsApp will now show the label ‘Edited’ alongside them, allowing recipients to be informed about the correction made without revealing the complete edit history.

WhatsApp said that the rollout of this feature has commenced worldwide and will gradually become accessible to all users over the next few weeks. So, keep your eyes open for the app update.
