Back in January 2023, Maybank introduced the “Kill Switch” feature to allow users to immediately stop any unauthorised transactions or withdrawals, which can help prevent further financial loss. Today, they have added another functionality to the kill switch.

According to The Star, this new Kill Switch function enables customers to temporarily stop the use of their credit and charge cards if they suspect fraudulent activity.

This new feature can be accessed through the Maybank2u website or MAE app, and once activated, all outgoing transactions on the blocked card will be declined.

Customers can only unblock their credit/charge card or reactivate Maybank2u access by will calling the Maybank Group Call Centre (MGCC) at 1300 88 6688 or visit a Maybank branch.

This added security measure is designed to prevent scammers and unauthorised parties from using the cards. Additionally, the bank has made Secure2u the sole authorisation method for all online transactions since 5 April.

Here’s how to activate it

Via the MAE app

Step 1: Launch the MAE app and tap ‘More’

Step 2: Tap ‘Kill Switch’

Step 3: Select the feature you would like to block or deactivate

Step 4: Read the terms and authorise the transaction via Secure2u

Via Maybank2u web

Step 1: Log in to www.maybank2u.com.my

Step 2: Go to ‘SETTINGS’

Step 3: Click ‘SECURITY’ and select ‘Kill Switch’

Step 4: Select the feature you would like to block or deactivate

Step 5: Read the terms and authorise the transaction via Secure2u
