Maxis’ flagship community programme, eKelas, aims to improve the academic performance of students in rural communities. As an after-school digital learning initiative for students from Year 4 to Form 5, the programme brings learning enrichment in a fun and vibrant way and provides access to quality education content, in line with the Malaysian School Syllabus.

Focusing on Science, Mathematics, English, eKelas students are exposed to experiential learning through a combination of live tutorials, group learning, competitions and digital content via the eKelas portal and app.

Maxis is pleased to announce that it has launched the enhanced eKelas portal and mobile app. Both platforms now have a refreshed user-friendly interface with new features including personalised learning recommendations with performance analytics, gamified learning experiences with daily challenges plus a reward system.

At the same time, eKelas has included two new subjects on its platform – Bahasa Malaysia and History – for Form 4 and Form 5 students.

“Today’s digital world enables students to take advantage of technology and the internet to consume knowledge on demand. We want to continuously improve their experience, and the enhanced portal and app will make digital learning more exciting. Our aspiration is to reach out to even more students to provide learning content for self-paced studies,” said Goh Seow Eng, Maxis Chief Executive Officer.

The eKelas mobile app enables students with the convenience and flexibility of learning on the go. With the new upgrades, students can also now join eKelas’ signature campaigns such as the HIP English StoryFest Competition and Misi Jelajah Digital STEM Competition directly from the app. Applications for eKelas’ Anugerah Gemilang, the student grant scheme for most progressed students, can also be submitted via the app.

At an event held at Menara Maxis, over 60 students from various schools, teachers and parents as well as winners from last year’s eKelas HIP English Storyfest and STEM competitions were present to receive their prizes and join fun activities which included an exclusive storytelling and STEM-activity workshop. The competition winners were awarded new devices to help them with their digital learning.
