Telegram launched a significant update yesterday, which includes a new power saving mode, improvements on the app’s performance on Android devices with lower specifications, additional choices for playback speed, and many other features.

Power Saving Mode

You can now turn on this feature to save battery life and improve performance on older devices. You have the option to configure it to activate automatically when your battery level reaches a specific percentage, and you can also disable particular effects with individual toggles.

You can toggle Power Saving mode or tweak individual settings for autoplay, animations, and effects in Settings > Power Saving.

Playback Speed

Previously, users of Telegram had the ability to adjust the playback speed of videos, podcasts, voice and video messages. With the latest update, users can now access greater flexibility by pressing and holding the 2x button to select any speed between 0.2x to 2.5x.

Read Receipts Time In Small Groups

In Telegram groups with fewer than 100 members, read receipts will now display the specific time when each person read your messages.

Users now have the ability to manage who can add them to groups. In the event that you are inviting someone who has imposed such restrictions, you can simply send them an invite link as a message. Additionally, invite links now display previews in chats, enabling users to see where the link is going instantly.

There are a few other additions such as new animated and interactive emoji and reactions, improved folder support for iOS, translated bot descriptions and more.

Telegram said that Android users can obtain the latest version of the app containing these features either from Google Play or directly from Telegram. However, iOS users will need to wait until Apple completes its review process for the update.
