End of last month, we reported that according to the founder of Nothing, Carl Pei said that their next phone will be coming out in the late 2023 and it’s going to be more “premium” than the Nothing Phone (1).
At that time, he didn’t say what hardware the Nothing Phone (2) will use. But we finally have the answer. Or at least, a small answer that gives us a glimpse of what the phone might be.
Carl Pei officially announced that the Nothing Phone (2) will be using Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series chipset at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023.
Sadly, the company didn’t provide any other information. It’s logical to assume that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will power the Nothing Phone (2), as it does for many of the flagship Android handsets that will be released this year.
But since he said the phone will arrive in the third quarter of 2023, it could probably be Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 or even 8 Gen 3. It remains to be seen whether this phone will be an all-out flagship or a flagship killer similar to earlier OnePlus phones when he was the head of that company.
In the article that we linked above, Pei is hesitant to refer the new phone as a “flagship” because he said the company prioritises unique hardware design and a polished software experience over obtaining the best technology at any costs.
Rumour suggest that the phone will have at least 12GB of RAM, 256GB storage, 5,000mAh battery, and a 120Hz display.
