Tesla is the poster child of electric vehicles (EVs). When people think of EVs, the first thing they though of is most likely Tesla and Elon Musk.
Before this, if you want to get a Tesla electric vehicle (EV) here, you have to get it from an importer. With the arrival of Tesla in Malaysia, you don’t have to go through the hassle of getting the car unofficially anymore.
The Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Tengku Zafrul just tweeted that they have approved the import of Tesla EVs into our shores.
Tesla will set up a Head Office, Tesla Experience & Service Centres, and Supercharger Network in Malaysia. Zafrul also added the arrival of Tesla aimed to boost EVs demand in the local market.
Tesla currently offers four different models with a variety of configurations, with a starting price of USD42,990 (RM192,853) and all the way up to USD119,990 (RM538,275). After Singapore and Thailand, Malaysia is the third Southeast Asia country to have an official Tesla presence.
