When Fahmi Fadzil, the Minister of Communications and Digital (KKD), announced the Unity Package or “Pakej Perpaduan” specifically for B40 and other low-income groups back in December 2022, he didn’t specify when Malaysians can start applying and only mentioned it will be coming on February 2023. But today, we finally have the answer to the long-awaited question.

According to Amanz, telecommunications companies such as CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, Telekom Malaysia, and YTL will be taking part in this initiative and they will introduce the plan on 28 February 2023.

The Unity Package plan is offering 3Mbps with 30GB data for RM30 and the plan will last for six months. Eligible people only have to pay around RM5 per month.

The plan will be offered to young people, B40 communities, people with disabilities, senior citizens, and veterans of the police and military. It will be open for registration until 31 December 2023.

Besides this plan, earlier this month, Fahmi also introduced a fixed-line internet package that offers 30Mbps for RM69 per month and it comes with a two-year contract. However, the RM69 price is only a suggested baseline rate and telcos are free to offer lower prices and to M40 group as well.
