Over a week ago, we reported that ChatGPT, the current most popular AI chatbot in the world, has launched a subscription service called ChatGPT Plus. At that time, it wasn’t available in Malaysia, but without any announcement, it was released here.

To recap, OpenAI, a U.S-based artificial intelligence (AI) is the company behind ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) and when they released it on 30 November 2022, the whole world started talking about it due to its incredible usefulness.

Due to its popularity, sometimes the chatbot can be overloaded with users, making it slow and unresponsive. Thus, OpenAI has decided to introduced ChatGPT Plus for those who wants to have access to it all the time for USD20 per month (RM87.14).

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Plus subscribers will receive a number of benefits such as:

  • General access to ChatGPT, even during peak times
  • Faster response times
  • Priority access to new features and improvements

How to join ChatGPT Plus

Subscribing to it is rather simple. Just register an account and head to the main page. From there, look at bottom left corner that says “Upgrade to Plus” and click it.

Once you clicked it, there will be a pop-up that shows which plan you are currently using and the option to “Upgrade plan” to ChatGPT Plus.

If you choose to upgrade the plan, you will be brought to the payment page where you can input all the required information here and once you are done, just click “Subscribe”.

Take note that there’s no MYR pricing, only USD. The plan will renew itself automatically unless you cancel it, so if you just want to try it for a couple of months, remind yourself to cancel it.

Don’t worry free users, OpenAI said ChatGPT will remain free for all to use. The subscription is their way to offer free access to as many people as possible.

Be warned that ChatGPT is only available through the website and its integration with Microsoft’s Bing. OpenAI has not released any mobile applications of the chatbot. According to GizChina, a site called Top10VPN found out that there are numerous fake ChatGPT apps on iOS and Android. Here’s a list of them:

On Android:

  • AI Chat Companion
  • ChatGPT 3: ChatGPT AI
  • Talk GPT – Talk to ChatGPT
  • ChatGPT AI Writing Assistant
  • Open Chat – AI Chatbot App

On iOS:

  • Open Chat – AI Chatbot
  • Wisdom AI – Your AI Assistant
  • Chat AI: Personal AI Assistant
  • Alfred – Chat with GPT 3
  • TalkGPT – Talk to ChatGPT

You should avoid downloading any of these apps because they were designed to hack and steal your data.
