The government recently launched a new initiative to assist people, particularly those with low incomes, in dealing with rising food prices. So, they launched Menu Rahmah, where restaurants can participate and offer meals that cost RM5 and below.
It might be challenging to locate eateries that offer Menu Rahmah meals unless you go searching for them in person. To address this issue, the government is exploring the possibility of creating a mobile application that provides a list of restaurants across the country that serve the RM5 meals.
According to Malay Mail, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said his ministry is creating an app with a list of restaurants serving Menu Rahmah dishes around the nation.
He stated that the app will promote restaurants serving Menu Rahmah meals and give users more information about the food operators taking part in the government initiative in their neighbourhood.
Salahuddin said there are as many as 15,000 eateries throughout the country offering the RM5 meals.
Many traders are racing to join this initiative by offering food for as low as RM5 at their outlets, this means they want to do it together in the spirit of charity without anyone being compelled.
So the concept here is clear, not a single sen of government money is involved.

He also said his ministry never force anyone to offer Menu Rahmah meals and they are launching the app in the near future.
