Samsung Wallet was announced June of last year and at that time, it was only available in South Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and the US. After that Samsung expanded the app to other countries and now it’s finally arriving to our shores.
Samsung announced today that the Samsung Wallet app is coming to Malaysia starting at the end of January. The wallet app is also coming to Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, and Taiwan.
If you currently use the Samsung Pay app on your phone, you can update it to become Samsung Wallet. If not, you can download it from the Galaxy Store.
Samsung Wallet is only available for users of Samsung smartphones. The app can store your boarding passes, credit and debit cards, digital keys, gift cards, health certificates, ID cards, loyalty cards, membership cards, and even NFTs.
All of your digital data is protected by Samsung Knox, which provides defence-grade security. Later this year, the South Korean company promised to expand the functionality of Samsung Wallet.
If you are using other Android devices, you can try Google Wallet instead, which was launched in Malaysia last November. It offers similar functionality but it’s not exclusive to any Android devices.
