In 2016, there was a rumour of Apple opening their store here. After that, it went silent for awhile, before resurfacing in April 2021 according to a report by The Edge Markets. Just a few days ago, someone on the Skyscraper City forum posted an image of the iconic Apple’s logo being affixed to something.
Today, we probably have the final confirmation that an Apple Store is indeed opening in Malaysia thanks to a Twitter user, @techsupremo.
According to the jobs listing on Apple’s website, the company is hiring 11 retail positions at the time of writing. The listing shows Apple is hiring retail positions for “various locations within Malaysia”. Perhaps this is to conceal the exact location or there could be more than one Apple Store.
The user who posted the image on the Skyscraper City forum said that the Apple Store will be located at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), The Exchange Mall.
Malaysia will be the third country in Southeast Asia to have an Apple Store after Singapore and Thailand. We will be certainly keeping an eye out for this one.
Up until now, the closest thing to an Apple Store here is an Apple Premium Partner Store by Machines, located in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur. They offer a similar experience but they are still not directly under Apple.
