Have you ever been in a situation where your mobile data quota was about to finish or your mobile network went down unexpectedly while you were trying to do something and you wished there was free WiFi you could use? You can consider moving to Selangor because they are providing free WiFi to everyone.

The Star reported that the state government will increase the free WiFi Smart Selangor access points from 828 to 1,600 by 31 December. The free WiFi has a speed of up to 8Mbps.

The WiFi Smart Selangor is a project by the Selangor state government to increase Internet connectivity under its Iltizam Selangor Penyayang programme.

They will concentrate on rural areas to narrow the digital divide between urban and rural residents.

Izham Hashim, committee chairman of the state infrastructure and public amenities, agriculture modernisation and agro-based industry, said they will focus on five locations.

Our focus is on low-cost housing estates, religious and health institutions, community centres, recreational and transport hubs, and state government buildings.

However, the installation will also depend on the existing telecommunication infrastructure in a particular area.
