Why Motorola dubbed its new smartphones “Penang”? We have no idea. But Motorola has a long history in Malaysia, they are here for more than 50 years. They established the company on the island back in 1972 and Penang is now home to Motorola Solutions’ second-largest global R&D centre.
According to Evan Blass, a well-known leaker, Motorola is planning to release three smartphones, dubbed Penang5G, Penang4G, and Penang+.
As for the specs, he added that he only knows the Penang5G will come with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage and there’s a punch hole selfie camera. The Penang5G could be a budget or mid-range Android phone.
It’s good to see that Motorola is naming its new devices after a state they have a history with, even though Motorola Solutions doesn’t produce smartphones.
