AMD recently celebrated its 50 years of operations in Malaysia and commemorated it by donating RM112,500 to the Penang Science Cluster.

The donation will support Penang Science Cluster’s GameDev Program, a game development workshop and Game Jam competition for secondary school students.

AMD has been an active part of the Malaysian community since 1972, with its first assembly manufacturing facility in Penang.

Since then, AMD Malaysia has grown to more than 800 employees spanning two Global Shared Services facilities in Penang and Cyberjaya.

In June 2022, AMD strategic partner and supplier TF-AMD Microelectronics Sdn. Bhd. announced a RM 2 billion capital investment through the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Penang.

It is expected to create more than 3,000 new jobs in Malaysia.
