Peranti Siswa Tablet Finally Revealed: It’s Samsung’s Latest Galaxy Tab A8 LTE

Communications And Multimedia Multimedia finally announced the make and model of the tablet that will be distributed in the PerantiSiswa programme. 

He said in a press conference at Parliament that the approximately 400,000 units of the Samsung Tab A8 LTE, will be used to help students from B40 families who are studying in institutes of higher learning around Malaysia (IPTA).

Tan Sri Annuar Musa also said that the PerantiSiswa programme will be expanded. Starting today, students from B40 families who are taking foundational programs at IPTAs, studying at matriculation colleges, studying ti vocational colleges, and form 6 students can now apply for the programme here.

The expansion is expected to add some 60,000 more students from B40 families to the programme. He also said that the PerantiSiswa application will be continued in phases until the month of November.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8 LTE

Most of the specifications of the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab 8 LTE (SM-X205NZAEXME) seems to fit the government’s requirements for the programme. However, it is missing a stylus and a keyboard right out of the box.

The Tab A8 does not support the S Pen (Samsung’s stylus, and there are no first party keyboard covers for the device.

According to the Samsung Malaysia website, the LTE variant of this tablet is designed for business. It also listed the WiFi variant as “not for sale”.

From our coverage earlier this year, we know that the price of the Tab 8 WiFi at launch was RM999.
