Many jobs are going to be digitalized, are you prepared to invest or work in the digital economy?

According to Communications and Multimedia Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, the Malaysia Digital initiative, which the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will announce today, sends a strong message to the rest of the world that Malaysia is prepared to lead the region in the digital economy.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the minister claimed that nations who made changes to their systems and capacities to deal with the new digital economic ecosystem would be in the lead in international races and competitions.

It is fitting for the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to focus not only on appreciation (to digital economy industry players) but also to focus further, with a new emphasis starting from now for the next 25 years.

It is apt for us to launch the programme (today); an initiative that symbolises our country’s commitment to address and master this new ecosystem.

Malaysia Digital, which replaces MSC Malaysia, which has been in existence for 25 years, is an improved and redesigned initiative at the nation’s top agency for the digital economy, MDEC.

According to Annuar, MDEC has attracted investments of more than RM384 billion, earned income close to RM600 billion, achieved total exports of RM212 billion, and produced more than 180,000 high-value jobs since its founding 25 years ago.

He also added, the value of the nation’s e-commerce transactions reached RM1 trillion for the first time in 2021, an increase of more than 20% from 2020, thanks to MDEC’s dedication to advancing the sector.
