The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (K-KOMM) through the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) announced the opening of applications for the Digital Content Grant (DCG) for 2022.
First introduced in 2016, the DCG is designed to help digital content creators in the country develop new content or marketing, and intellectual property (IP) such as animation, interactive media, and video games.
Digital creative content companies with a minimum capital of RM20,000 are encouraged to apply.
They can choose between grants for development costs worth up to RM300,000 or marketing and intellectual property (IP) licensing costs up to RM500,000.
Since 2016, MDEC has approved 55 projects worth RM34.5 million.
This resulted in animated series such as Didi & Friends by DD Animation Sdn Bhd, Ejen Ali the Movie by Wau Animation Sdn Bhd, and Astrology by Lemon Sky Animation Sdn Bhd.
The DCG application is open until 30 April and interested companies can visit https://mdec.my/DCG for more information.
