Tan Sri Annuar Musa says that under the National Digital Network (JENDELA), the government is planning to increase the number of new 4G telecommunication towers and prioritise Selangor for 5G.

The state will also receive the highest allocation in the initiative totalling RM5.34 billion.

Currently, there are 313 new telecommunication towers in Selangor and another 35 are being built.

The Communications and Multimedia Minister (MenKOMM) 7,197 3G transmitter stations in the state have been upgraded to 4G. 652 more are still in progress.

Also, 419,896 premises now have fibre optic and installation is ongoing at 196,422 more premises in Selangor.

Annuar said this at a moreh ceremony attended by representatives of K-KOMM agencies, departments and strategic partners in Selangor last night.

However, just before the Melaka state elections last year he said that Melaka will be given priority for 5G services.

Days after that, and before the Sarawak general elections, Annuar was quoted as saying that Sarawak will be given priority and be one of the first states to get 5G.

And yet, despite it all, the four big local mobile network operators have still not agreed with the government and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB).
