Acer today updated its Swift line of laptops with the new premium Swift 5 and 14in Swift 3.
Both laptops feature the 12th Gen Intel Core processors, touchscreen displays, and all-day battery life.
Acer Swift 5 (SF514-56T)
It is designed to be a premium laptop for mobile professionals. It has a CNC-machined unibody chassis and, of course, a 12th Gen Intel Core processor.
There’s also 16 GB of dual-channel LPDDR5 memory and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD
The new Acer Swift 5 weighs 1.2 kg, is made of aerospace-grade aluminium and is 14.95 mm thick.
Some notable quality of life improvement technology in the laptop includes Windows Hello via fingerprint reader on the power button and Cortana with Voice assistant.
The laptop also has Intel Evo verification. That means it has an instant wake from sleep function and at least 10 hours of real-world battery life.
In a pinch, a 30-minute charge can get you over 4 hours of battery life.
The laptop’s OceanGlass touchpad has been made from ocean-bound plastic and has a Microsoft Precision Touchpad certification and supports multi-finger gestures.
Its touchscreen display is a WQXGA (2560×1600) panel with a 92.22% screen-to-body ratio and 16:10 aspect ratio all under a layer of Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla.
For conference calls the FHD MIPI webcam uses Acer’s Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) technology to provide video quality in low-light conditions, while Acer PurifiedVoice with AI Noise Reduction ensures that the user’s voice comes through loud and clear.
Of course, the laptop also comes with Wi-Fi 6E, has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI
2.1 port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports.
When it comes to cooling, Acer says that the Swift 5 has a backlit keyboard with an air inlet design that expels 8-10% more heat, an upgraded TwinAir dual-fan system, and D6 heat pipes for airflow and thermal efficiency.
You can adjust the cooling performance manually by pressing “Fn+F” to cycle between three usage modes: silent, normal, and performance.
Acer Swift 3 (SF314-512)
The all-new 14in laptop is available in three colour-washed designs.
Inside is the latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors and up to 2 TB of SSD storage.
Its touch display is a 16:9 QHD or FHD touch with an FHD webcam and Acer’s TNR.
The Wi-Fi 6E and DTS Audio round up its features.
For ports, there’s USB Type-C, USB Type-A, and HDMI 2.1.
Just like the Swift 5, a single 30-minute charge can give you four hours of battery life.
The Swift 3 also comes with Acer’s TwinAir dual-fan cooling system.
