The Samsung Galaxy S22 & S22+ Hits Shelves 3 March. Starts At RM3,499 & RM4,099 Respectively

During Galaxy Unpacked on 9 Feb, Samsung has officially launched it’s highly anticipated S22 series of smartphones. These are the best devices the phone maker has to offer that does not fold.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series consists of three different devices, the standard S22, the slightly larger S22+, and the true successor to the Galaxy Note series, the S22 Ultra. 

All three smartphones are “armour aluminium” frame sandwiches, with a Gorilla Glass Victus+ front and a Gorilla Glass Victus+ bottom.

They are also running the new One UI 4.1 user interface, and pack an Exynos 2200 octa-core processor. 

The displays (of various sizes) on all three displays are those gorgeous Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels.

In other words, the software is feature packed, the processor is the best Samsung has made to date, and the phone screen is a treat to look at. 

We’ll detail the many, many software and camera features of the S22 series devices once we get our hands on them for review.

Here’s we’ll take a brief look at the similarities, differences, and our first impression of the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Samsung Galaxy S22+

The Flagship Device & Its Larger Sibling

Both the S22 and the S22+ look similar to the S21 series smartphones. It retains that signature in line three cameras with a camera bump that flows over the corner edge.

However, it feels different in the hand and it’s not because the back of the S22 and S22+ is made out of glass. In fact, in our brief hands-on preview of the devices, we could not tell that the back of the phone is made of glass. 

What makes the S22 and S22+ feel different is the straighter edge and a more flush back panel. It’s not a flat edge, but it’s not as curved as the S21 series either and the glass back feels slipperier than the plastic on the S21 series.

When it comes to colours, the S22 and S22+ come in phantom black, white, pink gold, and green. 

All four colours are saturated. Two of the colours (white and pink gold) are vibrant while the rest are darker.

While like the matt finish, we found that the lighter colours show more of the conformity logos and no trash symbol on the back of the phone than the light ones. 

It takes away from the device’s clean look.

In the brief time we had our hands on the two phones, we found that the performance is exactly what we expected from a flagship device. 

The interface is snappy, switching between modes is smooth, and there was no hiccups, apart from the many, many notifications what’s typical on a new Samsung device. 

Both the S22 and the S22+ come in two configurations, 128GB storage with 8GB of Ram and 256GB of storage with 8GB RAM.

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will be available for preorder starting 10 Feb and will be available on 3 March.
