Huawei Gives Malaysians A Taste Of The P50 Pro & Pocket Ahead of 12 Jan Launch

Huawei customers in Malaysia can now experience the new P50 Pro and P50 Pocket devices before the 12 Jan launch at the nearest Huawei Experience Stores (HES) across the country.

Customers in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur can choose between a walk-in or scheduled preview session while customers in other states can only opt in for a walk-in session.

Huawei is also giving away free wireless charging table lamp to the first 40 walk-in customers who came in to experience the new phones at any of the listed HES.

Under the hood, the Huawei P50 Pro features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor partnered with an Adreno 660 GPU.

The P50 Pro has a 6.6in OLED display with 120Hz refresh and 300Hz touch sampling rate.

All this is powered by a 4,360mAh battery capable of 66W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

It also features a 32MP hole punch front camera and four rear cameras:

  • 50MP main camera.
  • 40MP mono camera.
  • 13MP ultra-wide.
  • 64MP telephoto that supports 100x digital zoom.

The phone is also IP68-rated dust and water resistant.

The Malaysian version of the P50 Pro does not support Huawei Mobile Service or 5G.

This Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 competitor features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor paired with Adreno 660 GPU, 6.9in Full HD+ OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate.

The P50 Pocket also features a circular 1.04in OLED cover screen with 60Hz refresh rate and 120Hz touch sampling rate.

It has a 4,000mAh battery capable of 40W fast charging. However it does not support wireless charging and is not IP68-rated water or dust resistant.

For its camera the P50 Pocket has a 10.7MP hole punch front camera and three rear cameras:

  • 40MP main camera.
  • 13MP ultra-wide.
  • 32MP “ultra spectrum camera”.

The Huawei P50 Pocket will be available in two variants:

  • Huawei P50 Pocket Standard with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.
  • Huawei P50 Pocket Premium with 12GB RAM + 512GB storage.

Just like the P50 Pro, this device does not support 5G and Huawei Mobile Service.

price and availability

Huawei Malaysia has not yet reveal the prices for both devices, but they have already listed the devices in the official Lazada and Shopee pages.

For reference, the 128GB version of the P50 Pro sold in China costs 5,988CNY (~ RM3,930).

The Standard and Premium versions of the P50 Pocket costs 8,988CNY and 10,988CNY (~RM5,900 and ~RM7,213) respectively in China.
